  7. InnerView is an information storage and retrieval system designed for       
  8. very large, full-text databases that may contain associated images.  It     
  9. offers sophisticated data access methods which help you find the specific   
  10. information you need.  InnerView Database Preparation Software and          
  11. InnerView Retrieval Software provide the ability to index and access text   
  12. and associated images using a microcomputer.

  14. For the database researcher, InnerView combines the familiar aspects of     
  15. researching using printed material with the speed and flexibility of        
  16. microcomputers.  It is an easy-to-learn, efficient system that helps        
  17. inexperienced users quickly conduct extensive research on an electronic     
  18. database.  It also provides the features that an experienced computer       
  19. researcher expects from an advanced retrieval product.

  21. InnerView is ideally suited for retrieval of technical documentation and    
  22. other reference material.  This version of InnerView operates in the        
  23. Microsoft Window environment.  Versions are also avialable for the          
  24. Macintosh and CTOS operating systems.

  26. This demonstration of InnerView Retrieval Software will take you
  27. into the FIRMR database and let you perform any browsing or
  28. searching activities you wish.

  31. Browsing
  32.  
  33. Begin the demonstration by choosing the different menu items at the
  34. top of the screen to see what is available to you.  The Browse menu
  35. gives you access to the table of contents and the browse pointer
  36. lists.  These can give you direct entry to any point of the
  37. database.  Browsing features are used by people who know where they
  38. want to go in the database and how to get there, but do not know
  39. the exact words of the data.

  41. Searching
  42.  
  43. Search features are used by those who know the words they are
  44. looking for, but do not know where to find them.  The search menu
  45. gives you access to the search expression screen where a user can
  46. type in a word or phrase to be searched.  There are also search
  47. assist menus available here if the user wishes to fine-tune the
  48. search.  The user may also select information from the actual text
  49. of the database, and then select "Direct Search" under the search
  50. menu.  InnerView will automatically place the word or phrase into
  51. the search expression screen.

  53. Other features

  55. InnerView 2.1 provides a wealth of features for the information
  56. researcher.  In addition to the searching and browsing activities,
  57. the user can view and manipulate images, create public or private 
  58. annotations (Assist Menu), change the colors on the screen (Assist
  59. Menu), and keep track of all activities through the use of the
  60. audit trail.  The user can also copy portions of the text to the
  61. printer or to a file for use later with a word-processing package.

  63. InnerView also allows the user to make incremental updates to the
  64. text or image information by inserting, deleting, replacing or
  65. supplementing information.  Using the download database capability,    
  66. a subset of the entire database may be downloaded and indexed
  67. separately to be investigated independently from the rest of the
  68. data.
